Anthony with fellow graduates

Anthony Prosk is an accomplished musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer and teacher with some 40 years teaching and performing experience. He was awarded seven scholarships while completing a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Lethbridge, and graduated “Cum Laude” with a triple major in flute, music theory and ensemble performance. Following this he went on to earn a degree in Music Education and subsequently, a life of performing, writing and teaching music.

Anthony began his teaching career in 1976 as a flute and theory instructor at the University of Lethbridge Music Conservatory followed a 20 year career teaching band, music and theory in the public education system. He has since held teaching appointments at a number of music instruction schools and currently teaches flute and theory lessons from his home studio.

Since taking early retirement from public education Anthony has been concentrating on developing and offering workshops and clinics specially designed and geared toward high school music students and community groups. He draws on his studies with a number of imminent teachers, his experience performing with and directing an array of musical configurations, his thorough knowledge of music and a career facilitating and instructing the art of music, as both inspiration and a source of skills and methods learned through direct experience and application. This combined with his personable presentation, his ability to communicate clearly, directly and concisely, and his passion for music, make his clinics enjoyable, inspiring and meaningful for all ages.

Clinics are designed to be interactive and hands-on using a variety of teaching strategies so participants not only listen, watch and experience, but take home time-tested and easy to apply skills and methods to achieve the quickest results in the shortest time. Prior consultation with a school’s music instructor allows Anthony to configure clinics to include and address topics and issues pertinent to any group, any situation, or any level of student ability.

All clinics include a performance demonstration of the skills and concepts presented. This year Anthony is offering the clinic: Flute Skills and Practice Methods-The Quick Path for beginning and intermediate flute students, and and a course in the Art of Musicianship for intermediate and advanced students.
